ABSTRACT
Objective To evaluate the predictive value of posttreatment whole body scan (RxWBS) for radiation damage to the salivary glands in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC).Methods From April 2015 to June 2015,24 patients (8 males,16 females;age:26-64 years) with DTC,who accepted 131I therapy only one time and underwent Rx-WBS 2-4 d after 131I treatment,were recruited from the First Hospital of China Medical University.All patients had normal salivary glands function on salivary gland scintigraphy (SGS) performed on the day before 131I treatment,and 21 patients underwent SGS again 3 months after 131I treatment.The SGS results and clinical manifestations were used to evaluate the function of salivary glands after 131I therapy.Rx-WBS was analyzed by visual analysis and quantitative analysis (salivary gland to background uptake ratios,SUR).The SUR was compared between patient groups with different function of salivary glands.Mann-Whitney u test was used.Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to calculate the sensitivity of SUR for predicting the salivary gland damage.Results The SUR in dysfunctional parotid glands (n =12) was significantly higher than that in other glands with normal function (n=30;3.60(2.55,4.33) vs 2.75(2.33,3.29);z=-2.005,P＜0.05).The SUR was not different between submandibular glands with lower function (n =15) and those with normal function (n=27;z=-0.144,P＞0.05).The SUR of parotid glands (n =32) in patients with parotitis was significantly higher than that in others (n=16;3.16(2.53,4.01) vs 2.49(206,2 81);z=-3.073,P＜0.05).The SUR of submandibular glands (n=28) in patients with sialadenitis was significantly higher than that in others (n=20;4.43(2.67,7.61) vs 2.93(1.92,4.65);z=-2.740,P＜0.05).When 2.97 and 3.66 were selected as cutoff values,the sensitivities of SUR for predicting parotitis and sialadenitis were 59％(19/32) and 64％ (18/ 28),respectively.Conclusion Rx-WBS may play a role in predicting radiation damage to the salivary glands.

It is becoming a new trend in wound care field to do quantitative evaluation for the effect of wounds.The pressure ulcer scale for healing (PUSH) made by national pressure ulcer advisory panel (NPUAP) was used to evaluate the effect of pressure ulcers quantitatively at first and then it was used to different classification wounds.This article reviews the advancement of validity and reliability of PUSH in inter-professional research and clinical application in order to provide reference data for correctly using the tool.
ABSTRACT
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of HE’s needling method (three ways for unblocking) in treating mild simple obesity due to dampness from spleen deficiency.Method Forty eligible subjects with mild simple obesity due to dampness from spleen deficiency were randomized into group A and group B, 20 cases in each group. Group A was intervened by mild unblocking method plus intensive unblocking method from HE’s needling method, and group B was by mild unblocking method plus warm unblocking method. The obesity-related indexes were observed before and after treatment, and the clinical efficacies were compared.Result The body weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) were significantly changed after intervention in the treatment group (P0.05). The total effective rate was 55.0% in the treatment group versus 10.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01).Conclusion HE’s needling method is effective in treating mild simple obesity due to dampness from spleen deficiency, and mild unblocking method plus intensive unblocking method can produce a more significant efficacy compared to mild unblocking method plus warm unblocking method.

Objective To investigate the relationships among free triiodothyronine( FT3 ), free thyroxine (FT4 ), and thyroid-stimulating hormone( TSH) in both plasma and breast milk of patients with thyroid diseases. Methods A total of 102 female subjects with hyperthyroidism(GD), normal thyroid function(NC), and Hashimoto′s hypothyroidism(HT or hypothyroidism)were enrolled. Their plasma and breast milk were collected for measurement of FT3 and FT4 , and TSH. Meanwhile, 11 infants of patients with hyperthyroidism and another 11 infants of patients with hypothyroidism were selected, blood FT3 , FT4 , and TSH content were determined during lactating period and 2 months after lactation. Results (1) FT3 and FT4 contents in breast milk among 3 groups were different[(1. 48 ± 0. 81), (7. 79 ± 3. 56), and (0. 77 ± 0. 42)pg/ ml; (2. 94 ± 1. 43), (14. 78 ± 7. 40), and (1. 51 ± 0. 40)pg/ ml, P0. 05). (2) FT3 ratio of breast milk to plasma of the hyperthyroidism group was different to other 2 groups(0. 42 ± 0. 04 vs 0. 35 ± 0. 03, 0. 36 ± 0. 03, P0. 05). (3)Blood FT3 , FT4 , and TSH contents from infants of patients with hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism were different, both during lactating period and 2 months after lactation[(5. 06 ± 1. 76)vs (6. 51 ± 2. 23)pg/ ml, (17. 39 ± 2. 78)vs (19. 87 ± 3. 26)pg/ ml, (1. 34 ± 1. 33)vs (0. 74 ± 0. 78)mIU/ L; (1. 43 ± 0. 74)vs (1. 83 ± 0. 91)pg/ ml, (4. 28 ± 1. 55)vs (5. 00 ± 1. 75)pg/ ml, (6. 48 ± 2. 70) vs (5. 49 ± 2. 39) mIU/ L; all P<0. 05]. (4) FT3 and FT4 contents were positively correlated in plasma and breast milk(all P<0. 05), while TSH contents were positively correlated only in hypothyroidism group(P<0. 05). Conclusion FT3 , FT4 , and TSH in blood and breast milk are correlated.

AIM:To determine whether caudatin , a C21 steroidal aglycone , enhances tumor necrosis factor-re-lated apoptosis-inducing ligand ( TRAIL)-associated HepG2 cell apoptosis .METHODS:Cell growth inhibition was deter-mined by MTT assay and cell colony formation assay .The TUNEL apoptosis detection kit was used to analyze cell apopto-sis, and the protein expression was examined by Western blotting .RESULTS:Combination of caudatin with TRAIL signi-ficantly reduced cell proliferation and increased the apoptotic rate of HepG 2 cells compared with the use of each agent alone.This was evidenced by marked increases in caspase-3, caspase-7, caspase-9 and PARP cleavages in the cells treated with caudatin and TRAIL-compared with control group .Combination of caudatin with TRAIL also led to the strong suppres-sion of survivin .CONCLUSION:Caudatin synergizes HepG 2 cells to TRAIL-induced apoptosis by promoting the cleava-ges of caspase-3, caspase-7, caspase-9 and PARP and inhibiting the expression of survivin .

BACKGROUND:The chitin medical wound dressing can relieve the wound pain, bleeding, and promote wound healing. It has good biocompatibility and antibacterial properties. With the good permeability and natural degradation in the body, it can be used clinicaly as a good biological wound dressing. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical outcome of the chitin medical wound dressing paste and routine dressings used in changing the dressing and medication. METHODS:We retrospectively studied 60 patients undergoing wound-treatment. They were divided into two groups: chitin medical wound dressing paste group and routine dressing group. Each group had 30 patients. We recorded wound healing rate, detection rate of bacteria, visual analog scale score, healing time and cost of treatment at 3, 7, 14 days after treatment. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The wound healing rate, detection rate of bacteria, visual analog scale score, healing time of the chitin medical wound dressing paste group were better than those of the routine dressing change medicine group (P dressing and medication can promote wound healing, reduce the antibacterial infection rate, and obtain better treatment satisfaction.

@#Objective To investigate the effect of Doctor-patient Interaction Model on hemiplegia after acute stroke.Methods 200 cases with mderate to severe hemiplegia were divided into treatment group and the control group with each 100 cases according to whether their family supporting rehabilitation.Cases in treatment group received interaction model rehabilitation.They were assessed with National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS),Fugl-Meyer Assessment(FMA),Barthel Index(BI)10 d,1 month,3 months,6 months,12 months after rehabilitation,and the Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS)1 year after rehabilitation.Results The scores in all the assessment of the cases in the treatment group improve mostly 3 month after rehabilitation(P<0.01),while the BI improved 6-12 month after rehabilitation(P<0.01).The incidence of depression reduced 18% compared with that of the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion Doctor-patient interaction can improve the outcome of patients with moderate to severe hemiplegia.

Seizures may be the first or sometimes the only manifestation of patients with glioma in clinics. The aim of operation is to eliminate epilepsy far beyond mere resection of tumor mass. The underlyling mechanisms of glioma-associated epileptogenesis are poorly understood. Recently the theory of amino-acid like neurotransmitters in chemical synapse is gradually accepted. However, the molecular mechanisms remain to be further investigated on how glutamate release is regulated and how synaptic homeostasis in peripheral neurons is kept or disturbed. So detailed studies are needed to clarify specific molecular target and provide proper evidence for optimal antiepileptic drugs in glioma-associated epileptoge-nesis.

Objective: To investigate the reasonable establishment of functions and processes in the Wound Care Center,and discuss the duties and roles of its enterostomal therapists(ET).Methods: According to the army's related infection management rules and nosocamiol infection control criteria,our Wound Care Center is divided into 8 areas,each with its set function and corresponding equipment and materials.We have laid out the consulting process for patients,stoma and wound management processes for nurses,responsibilities for ET and an operation mode for the Wound Care Center.The targets attained in work,teaching and research in the previous two years were analyzed and compared.Results: The index of the attainment of the tangets increased dramatically,with a growth rate of more than 20% in 8 of the 9 targets,most obviously in teaching and research.Conclusion: The division of the functional areas has proved to be reasonable,each operational process capable of meeting patients' needs and technical requirements,which enables ET to play important professional roles in the specialized field.

Objective:To study the therapeutic effects of Atorvastatin on hyperlipemia of the young patients by comparing their blood lipid levels before and after taking the medication. Methods:36 young patients ranged from 18 to 39 years old with hyperlipemia were given Atorvastatin with a dose of 10mg qd which lasted 8 weeks.Results:The levels of TC,LDLC and TG significantly decreased,while the HDL-C level had no obvious change.There were 1 case of temporary epigastric discomfort and 2 cases of slight AST increase.Conclusion:Atorvastatin can significantly and securely reduce the blood lipid level in young patients with hyperlipemia.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the knowledge about hand hygiene among the healthcare workers in the infectious disease hospital and improve their hand hygiene compliance.METHODS A standardized questionnaire was sent to 364 healthcare workers in the infectious disease hospital.The following data investigated anonymously were collected.RESULTS All the healthcare workers' answers to the choice questions were right(100.0%).However,there were significant differences in the answers to the memorized questions among the healthcare workers with different careers.The correct answers among the nurses were the highest(97.7% and 94.8%,respectively);among the doctors were 71.4% and 34.7%;and among the medical technicians were 21.5%,and 8.6%,respectively.But there were no significant differences between sexes,education degrees and service length in the three groups.CONCLUSIONS The healthcare workers of our hospital are well in the field of basic knowledge about hand hygiene.However,there are differences in the answers to the memorized questions among healthcare workers with different careers.It need to enhance the systems of training and examination for workers,especially for the doctors,technicians and all the new staff.Alcohol-based hand rub(AHR),which is prone to practice,would replace hand-washing.And it should be more supervised.
